Silica Sand — Excellent For Ceramics
The term “roofing sand” refers to one way that our sand can be used. For instance, it can be used for many roofing products. Our sand is composed primarily of silica, which makes it an excellent option for ceramic specialty tile. The regular shape and body offered by the primarily quartz composition helps ceramic tiles maintain their rigidity by supporting the clay and other components during the making process. While standard asphalt style shingles don’t typically rely on our roofing sand, specialty tiles for both flooring and roofing often make use of ceramics where a high volume of silica sand is used.
- Good For Sanded Grout – With the regular shape and consistency of our silica sand, it makes a great filler for sanded grout. Ideal for flooring and projects that need a more solid and sturdy structure, sanded grout provides the support and rigid medium needed to keep tiles in place. The additional structure offered by our sand also helps resist cracking during the curing process, and works well for wide set joints and applications.
